Interactions of Microwaves and Electron Clouds

چکیده
The modification of microwave signals passing through an electron cloud can be used as a diagnostic tool for detecting its presence and as a measure for its effective density. This observation method was demonstrated in pioneering measurements at the CERN SPS in 2003 with protons and at PEP-II in 2006 with positron beams in the particle accelerator field. Results and applications of this technique are discussed as well as limitations and possible difficulties. A strong enhancement of the electron related signals due to cyclotron resonance is theoretically predicted and has been observed in different machines. The application of this method can also be extended to space applications and to plasma physics where microwave diagnostics is known and used since many years. The dynamics of electron-cloud behavior in strong RF and microwave fields will be addressed. An electron cloud may also emit microwaves itself, either incoherently or coherently, and the intensity of this emission depends on external parameters such as the electrical bias field and resonator frequencies such as trapped modes resonances in a beam-pipe.

A C102H30 graphene sheet has been rolled up to construct Single-Walled Carbon NanoTube Fragments (SWCNTFs) as parts of armchair carbon nanotubes by computational quantum chemistry methods. Non-covalent cation-π interactions of the Na+ cation on the central rings of SWCNTFs have investigated. The binding energies of the Na+-SWCNTF complexes versus ...
متن کاملModeling of Resonant TE Waves for Electron Cloud Density Measurements in CesrTA
Maximizing the current and stability of the beam is an important goal in high-energy accelerators. Low-energy electron clouds can be produced from photoemission caused by synchrotron radiation, ionization of residual gas in beam-pipe, and secondary electrons. In lepton accelerators like CesrTA, low-energy electron clouds form primarily from synchrotron radiation of a positron beam and cause des...
متن کاملCorrelations in interfering electrons irradiated by nonclassical microwaves
Electron interference in mesoscopic devices irradiated by external non-classical microwaves, is considered. In the case of one-mode microwaves, it is shown that both the average intensity and the spectral density of the interfering electrons are sensitive to the quantum noise of the microwaves. The results for various quantum states of the microwaves are compared and contrasted with the classic...
متن کاملEnhancement of anodic current attributed to oxygen evolution on α-Fe2O3 electrode by microwave oscillating electric field
Various microwave effects on chemical reactions have been observed, reported and compared to those carried out under conventional heating. These effects are classified into thermal effects, which arise from the temperature rise caused by microwaves, and non-thermal effects, which are attributed to interactions between substances and the oscillating electromagnetic fields of microwaves. However,...
متن کاملEffects of structure and number of Heteroatom on the π-π stacking interactions of benzene with N-substituted coronenes: A theoretical study
Stability of the π-π stacking interactions in the Ben||N-substituted-coronene complexes was studied using the computational quantum chemistry methods (where Ben is benzene and || denotes π-π stacking interaction, and N-substituted-coronene is coronene molecule which substituted with different number of N atoms). The results reveal simultaneous effects of structure and number of Heteroatom on th...
